A Mother's Day Weekend Guide and an 11-Day Streak in the Northwest

Happy Friday, y'all. We are heading into Mother's Day weekend, and while there is a lot of active weather to keep an eye on across the Southern Plains and Gulf Coast, a massive ridge of high pressure is bringing some truly fantastic outdoor conditions to a huge chunk of the country. If you are looking for the best spots to set up a patio brunch or hit a trailhead, we have some clear winners.

Before we look at the weekend, we have to talk about the Pacific Northwest. Places like Marysville, Everett, and Seattle in Washington are riding an incredible 11-day streak of nice weather. The air is dry, the temperatures are sitting comfortably in the 70s, and the air quality is excellent. If you live up there, you already know how good it feels right now.

Friday and Saturday Comfort

For Friday and Saturday, the "Beautiful" zones are focused across the Central High Plains and the Tennessee Valley. Cities like Memphis and Nashville are scoring right around 79 out of 100 on our comfort scale today. The air is crisp with dewpoints in the low 50s, making it feel fresh rather than muggy.

If you are heading out to the Sip Nebraska festival in Ashland today or Saturday, the weather near the Omaha and Lincoln areas is looking stellar. Highs will be in the mid-70s. The only minor catch keeping these areas from hitting that "Perfect" tier is a bit of a breeze, with sustained winds around 12 to 15 mph. You will also want to grab the sunscreen, as the UV index is peaking over 7.0 during the afternoon.

Mother's Day Sunday

For Mother's Day on Sunday, the Pacific Northwest stays at the top of the charts. Seattle and Portland are scoring a "Beautiful" rating. The precipitation chance is an absolute zero, and winds will be light. Just keep in mind that a thick deck of high clouds will be filtering the sunshine up there.

Further east across the Midwest and Ohio Valley, places like Indianapolis and Louisville are looking at a highly comfortable "Nice" day. Highs will be in the low 70s with very dry air. It is genuine light jacket weather for the morning that transitions into a great afternoon for a walk.

A "Perfect" Start to Next Week

If you are looking ahead to early next week, the weather actually gets even better for the Midwest. By Monday, a zone of "Perfect" weather sets up right over Missouri. Kansas City, St. Louis, and Columbia are all forecast to hit that rare top tier. We are talking highs near 70 degrees, dewpoints in the low 50s, light winds under 10 mph, and mostly clear skies. Tuesday brings similar "Perfect" scores down into Arkansas and over to Spokane, Washington.
