A Gorgeous Mother's Day Weekend in the Northwest, Plus Perfect Days Ahead for the Midwest

Happy Saturday, y'all. If you have been following the broader weather pattern, you know we have a lot going on across the southern tier of the country. From severe thunderstorms and large hail in Oklahoma and Texas to heavy, flooding rains along the Gulf Coast in Louisiana, it is definitely a weekend to keep your weather radio handy in the South.

But if you live further north or out West, you are experiencing the exact opposite. A massive dome of high pressure has settled in behind a cold front, bringing some of the crispest, most comfortable air we have seen all spring. If you are making plans for a Mother's Day patio brunch or just want to get outside, we have some fantastic spots on the map.

The Pacific Northwest's Incredible Run

We have to give a massive shoutout to Washington and Oregon. The Pacific Northwest is in the middle of an absolute golden stretch of weather. Places like Marysville, Everett, and Redmond are officially hitting a 12-day streak of nice weather today.

For this weekend, Seattle and Portland are sitting firmly in the "Beautiful" category. Highs will be in the low to mid-70s with dewpoints hovering right around 50 degrees. That means the air is dry, the humidity is essentially a non-issue, and air quality is excellent with an AQI around 50. The only minor catch is a bit of mid-level cloud cover and a moderate UV index. You will still want sunscreen if you are hitting the trailheads or spending the afternoon outside.

A Crisp Weekend for the Tennessee Valley

If you are in the Tennessee Valley or the Ohio Valley, you are also in for a treat today and tomorrow. Nashville, Knoxville, and Lexington are all scoring in the "Beautiful" tier today.

After a chilly start to the week, afternoon highs are bouncing back into the low 70s. The best part is the dry air. Dewpoints have dropped into the 40s and low 50s across the region. It is the kind of weather where you can sit in the sun and feel warm, but the moment you step into the shade, it feels perfectly cool. Whether you are doing yard work or taking the family out for Sunday brunch, the weather is going to cooperate beautifully. Just keep in mind that afternoon breezes could kick up around 10 to 15 mph in some spots.

"Perfect" Conditions Arrive in the Midwest on Monday

If you live in the Central Plains or the Midwest, you might want to think about taking a long lunch break on Monday or Tuesday.

By Monday, the center of that high pressure system parks right over the region. Kansas City, Missouri, and Quincy, Illinois, actually hit our rare "Perfect" category. We are talking about zero percent chance of rain, nearly cloudless skies, and light breezes under 10 mph. Highs will be right around 70 degrees.

If you are heading out to Kauffman Stadium to watch the Royals host the Tigers, or if you just want to take an evening walk, you literally could not ask for a better setup. This pristine window holds firm into Tuesday for places like Springfield, Missouri, and Evansville, Indiana, before the humidity starts creeping back up later in the week.
