Best Weather Today: Mid-Atlantic & West Coast Forecast
While the Plains deal with severe storms, the Mid-Atlantic and Southern California are seeing Beautiful to Perfect weather today. Find the best outdoor spots.

Finding the Perfect Weather Pockets on a Stormy Monday
Hey y'all. We have our eyes glued to the radar today for the Central Plains. There is a Level 4 severe weather threat for parts of Kansas and Nebraska, and we are taking that very seriously. But if you are situated outside of that storm track, you might be looking at some truly spectacular spring weather to start your work week.
While the middle of the country deals with turbulence, the coasts are offering a really nice reprieve. Let's look at where the best outdoor conditions are hiding today and tomorrow.
The Mid-Atlantic Sweet Spot
A strong high pressure system is parked off the East Coast right now. That is pumping some early summer heat inland, pushing afternoon high temperatures into the 90s for places like Richmond and Raleigh. However, if you are closer to the coast or in the southern Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, you are in the absolute sweet spot today.
Our data is picking up a "Perfect" weather zone today right along the Mid-Atlantic coast. We are talking about highly stable temperatures with highs right around 69 degrees, clear skies, and comfortable humidity. The dry air from higher up is mixing down to the surface, keeping things feeling fresh instead of sticky.
Washington, D.C., is sitting pretty at number five on our top cities list today. If you have tickets to see the Mets play the Nationals tonight, you are in for an incredible evening at the ballpark.

Just keep one caveat in mind for the East Coast today. The UV index is running high (an 8.4 out of 10) across this zone during the afternoon hours. Grab the sunscreen and a hat if you are eating lunch on a patio.

West Coast Coasting
Looking out west, the Pacific high pressure system is doing exactly what it does best. It is keeping the air stable and dry across the Southwest and the California coast.
San Diego takes the crown as the number one city in the country today with a score of 77.6 and a "Beautiful" rating. This western comfort is not a one-day fluke, either. Tomorrow, Los Angeles takes the top spot, and by Wednesday, Chula Vista actually hits that rare "Perfect" category.

The air out west is very dry, the skies are mostly clear, and the highs are sitting comfortably in the 70s. The only minor caveat for the West Coast this week is some lingering hazy skies in Southern California and Arizona from recently lofted dust, but it is not enough to ruin a hike or a neighborhood walk.
If you are in one of these beautiful zones, get outside and enjoy it. For folks in the Plains, stay weather aware today, and we will keep tracking the bright spots for you as the week goes on.
