A California Saturday and a Flawless Sunday for the Ohio Valley

Hey y'all, we have a fantastic weekend of weather lined up, but the absolute best spots are going to shift depending on which day you are making plans.

If you are looking at the maps for Saturday, California is completely dominating the top of our Nice Weather outlook page. But if you have Sunday plans in the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, or Mid-Atlantic, you are in for an absolute treat as a massive area of high pressure settles in.

RHY Nice Weather Outlook Day 1

Saturday: California and the Great Lakes

For Saturday, the "Perfect" category is firmly planted over parts of California, the central High Plains, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

If you live in San Diego, Sacramento, or Fresno, Saturday is your day to get outside. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s with abundant sunshine and incredibly comfortable humidity. It is exactly the kind of weather you want for a weekend trailhead hike or a trip to the park.

Over on the East Coast, a dry Canadian airmass is pouring in. This is dropping the humidity and bringing refreshingly cool temperatures in the 60s and 70s to the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio Valley. If you are heading to the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia or an evening baseball game in Baltimore, it is going to feel great, though you will notice a stiff breeze. Those winds are the only thing keeping the East Coast from hitting the top tier on Saturday.

Sunday: The Midwest and Mid-Atlantic Upgrade

By Sunday, the weather map looks like a masterpiece for the eastern half of the country.

As the pressure gradient relaxes, those Saturday breezes will calm down. That means cities like Columbus, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C. are all jumping up to a "Perfect" rating.

We are talking about crystal clear skies, practically zero chance of rain, and crisp dewpoints in the mid-40s. Highs will sit comfortably in the upper 60s to mid-70s. If you are planning a patio brunch, a neighborhood cookout, or taking the family to a Sunday afternoon baseball game, you literally could not ask for a better setup.

Looking Ahead: The Pacific Northwest Warms Up

As we head into the work week, the Pacific Northwest is preparing for a gorgeous stretch. By Monday, a steady warming trend begins. Portland and Seattle will see their skies clear out and temperatures climb into the 70s, with interior valleys pushing into the 80s.

Portland actually takes the number one spot on our Monday outlook, kicking off a run of beautiful weather that is definitely worth planning around.

Enjoy the weekend, get some fresh air, and make the most of this incredible late-May weather!
