Discover where the best weather is this weekend. The Upper Midwest and Great Lakes see crisp, beautiful air while Southern California continues a 27-day streak.

Crisp Air for the Upper Midwest and a 27-Day Streak Out West
Y'all, the weather map is a tale of two extremes this weekend. We are tracking a lot of active weather, from severe storms threatening outdoor festivals in the Northeast to heavy rain soaking the Ozarks. But right in the middle of it all, a massive dome of high pressure is serving up some of the most comfortable air of the season.
If you are looking to get outside, fire up the grill, or catch a baseball game, here is where the weather is actually cooperating. You can always check your local forecast on our Nice Weather outlook page.
Saturday Belongs to the Upper Midwest

A completely dry, stable airmass has settled over Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the northern Great Lakes today. The data is throwing our highest possible weekend scores at places like Duluth, Eau Claire, and St. Cloud.
We are talking about temperatures hovering right around 80 degrees with dewpoints in the mid 50s. That is the kind of crisp, refreshing air that makes you want to tackle those outdoor projects you have been putting off. If you are heading to Target Field in Minneapolis to watch the Twins play the Royals this evening, you are in for an absolute treat.
The only thing keeping this zone from hitting our rare Perfect tier is the June sun. The UV index is running around 7.5 today, so you will definitely need sunscreen if you are spending the afternoon on the patio.
Sunday's Great Lakes Glide

By Sunday, that refreshing airmass slides eastward into the Ohio Valley and the rest of the Great Lakes. The severe threat from Saturday will clear out, leaving behind brilliant blue skies for Michigan, northern Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
Cities like Lansing, Flint, and Erie are landing in our Beautiful category for Sunday. Detroit is scoring a very solid Nice, which is great news if you are heading downtown for the Mariners-Tigers game. Expect highs in the 70s to low 80s and virtually zero chance of rain. The winds will be light and pleasant, averaging around 8 to 11 mph. It is the exact kind of weather you want for a Sunday bike ride or a picnic by the lake.
The California Streak Continues
We also need to give a shoutout to the West Coast. While the central and eastern US deal with a rollercoaster of weather systems, a stable ridge out West is keeping things remarkably consistent.
Communities across Southern California, including Lancaster, Palmdale, and Azusa, just hit a 27-day streak of Nice weather. The dry air and clear skies are holding strong. As we head into next week, that western ridging is going to anchor the best weather in the country over the Intermountain West and the Pacific coast.
Get out there and enjoy the sunshine if you have it, y'all. Stay safe, wear your sunscreen, and have a great weekend.
