Midwest Weather Relief & Perfect Weekend Forecasts
After a week of severe storms, the Midwest and Ohio Valley get a break with perfect weekend weather. Plus, ideal conditions for the World Cup opener in LA.

A Much-Needed Breather for the Midwest and Flawless Tailgate Weather in SoCal
It has been a long, loud week across the central United States. Between the severe squall lines, the 90 mph wind gusts, and the flash flooding, a lot of folks are just tired. But as that massive storm system finally pushes east toward the coast, it is pulling down a refreshing, dry airmass right behind it.
If you need to clean up the yard, walk the dog without sweating through your shirt, or just want to enjoy a quiet patio breakfast, Friday and Saturday are serving up some of the best conditions we have seen all month.
Here is a look at where the weather is actually working in our favor. You can always check your local score on our Nice Weather outlook page.
Friday: The Midwest and Central Plains Hit Reset
By Friday afternoon, a broad ridge of high pressure will settle over the Central Plains and Midwest, completely changing the feel of the air.
Cities like Des Moines, Kansas City, and Topeka are hitting the elusive "Perfect" category on our comfort scale for Day 2. High temperatures will top out in the mid-70s to low 80s, but the biggest relief will be the drop in humidity. Dewpoints are crashing from the muggy 70s down into the comfortable 50s. The sticky, heavy air is gone, leaving behind crisp breezes and mostly sunny skies.

Rain chances are virtually zero across this zone on Friday. Just keep in mind that with the clear skies, the UV index will be high. You will definitely want sunscreen if you are spending the afternoon outside.
World Cup Tailgating in Southern California
Friday is also a massive day for sports fans with the FIFA World Cup U.S. Opening Match kicking off in Inglewood. If you are heading out to the stadium or watching from an outdoor patio, the Los Angeles metro area is locking in a very solid "Nice" category for the afternoon.
Expect high temperatures right around 81 degrees with comfortable humidity and a gentle breeze. It is classic Southern California weather, making for an ideal setup for soccer fans.
Saturday: A Flawless Start to the Weekend Out East
As we head into Saturday, that dome of comfortable air slides further east, setting up an incredible weekend for the Ohio Valley and parts of the Mid-Atlantic.

Pennsylvania is the big winner here. Pittsburgh, Altoona, and Harrisburg all reach the "Perfect" category on Saturday. Afternoon highs will sit near 77 degrees, dewpoints will be in the low 50s, and cloud cover will be minimal. If you have a weekend hiking trip, a picnic, or a tee time planned, this is the day to do it.
Meanwhile, the Pacific Northwest is just showing off. Seattle, Portland, and Eugene are riding a seven-day streak of excellent weather. Eugene specifically is holding onto a "Beautiful" to "Perfect" rating all week long, with highs hovering in the 70s and zero chance of rain.
A Quick Note on Fire Danger
While the dry air is great for our comfort scores, it does come with a caveat out West. The combination of dry fuels, low relative humidity, and breezy afternoons is elevating the fire danger across the Central Rockies and southern Wyoming on Friday. If you are camping in those areas this weekend, please be extra careful with sparks and campfires.
