Nice Weather: East Coast Comfort & Pacific Northwest Sun

A refreshing, dry airmass brings beautiful weather to the East Coast today, while the Pacific Northwest prepares for a flawless midweek stretch.

RHY Nice Weather Outlook Day 1

Crisp Air for the East Coast and a Flawless Midweek in the Pacific Northwest

If you live in the middle of the country or down along the Gulf Coast, you know the weather map is incredibly active right now. Between the multi-day flood threat in Texas and a severe weather outbreak brewing for the Midwest on Wednesday, a lot of folks are just trying to stay dry and safe.

But if you are outside of those active zones, a massive chunk of the country is enjoying some of the most comfortable mid-June weather we have seen all year. High pressure is delivering a refreshing, dry airmass to the eastern half of the US today, while the Pacific Northwest is gearing up for a flawless stretch of outdoor weather by midweek.

You can always check your local rating on our Nice Weather outlook page, but here is a look at the standout spots to get outside over the next few days.

Tuesday: A Breath of Fresh Air for the East

RHY Nice Weather Outlook Day 1

If you are stepping out for a patio breakfast in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast this morning, you are going to notice the difference immediately. The muggy summer humidity has been completely scoured out.

Our Nice Weather algorithm is painting a massive "Beautiful" zone across the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast for Tuesday. Cities like Nashville, Baltimore, and Worcester are topping the charts. We are looking at afternoon highs in the mid-70s to lower 80s, but the real star of the show is the dewpoint. With dewpoints sitting in the low 50s, the air feels crisp and light.

If you are heading to Fenway Park tonight to watch the Blue Jays take on the Red Sox, you could not ask for better baseball weather. Just keep in mind that with mostly clear skies, the UV index is hovering around 8 across the region. You will definitely want sunscreen if you are out during the afternoon hours, and localized air quality issues are the only thing keeping this zone from hitting our absolute highest rating.

Wednesday and Thursday: The Pacific Northwest Shines

RHY Nice Weather Outlook Day 2

By Wednesday, the best weather in the country shifts westward. A highly comfortable, dry airmass is settling over the Pacific Northwest, bringing "Beautiful" conditions to Washington and Oregon.

Seattle, Portland, and Eugene are completely rain-free for Wednesday and Thursday. Expect high temperatures in the upper 60s around Seattle and the mid-70s near Portland, paired with a gentle 10 mph breeze. It is an ideal window for hiking the Cascades or catching the Orioles and Mariners game in Seattle on Wednesday evening.

By Thursday, that beautiful air expands into the Northern Rockies and Intermountain West. If you are traveling to Colorado for the start of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival on Thursday, you are walking into fantastic outdoor weather. Highs will average around 77 degrees across the region with zero percent rain chances.

The California Streak Continues

We also have to give a nod to the West Coast for sheer consistency. Cities all the way from Redding down to Los Angeles are riding an eight-day streak of "Nice" to "Beautiful" weather. Inland valleys are seeing a slight cool down, bringing welcome relief, while the coast is enjoying that classic summer pattern of morning marine clouds burning off to sunny afternoons.

While the coasts enjoy the quiet conditions, please stay weather-aware if you are in the central US this week. The severe storms and heavy rain are acting as a hard cap on our comfort scores for a reason.
