Y'all, it has been a heavy week. Between the catastrophic flooding down on the Gulf Coast and the severe weather outbreaks across the central United States, a lot of folks are just mentally and physically exhausted. If you are in the path of the storms, please stay safe. But if you are looking for a silver lining, the atmosphere is finally offering a massive sigh of relief for a huge chunk of the country.

Today, a dome of high pressure is settling over the Ohio Valley and the Midwest. It is sweeping away the muggy, stormy air and replacing it with something spectacular.

If you live in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, or Dayton, today is your day. We are seeing Perfect scores across the board for the Ohio Valley. High temperatures will top out in the mid-70s, but the real star of the show is the humidity (or rather, the lack of it). Dewpoints are dropping into the upper 50s. That means the air will feel incredibly crisp and refreshing. Whether you are grabbing a patio lunch or taking the kids to the park after school, Friday afternoon is as good as it gets. Just keep the sunscreen handy, because the UV index is hovering near 8.0.

Moving into Saturday, that bubble of beautiful weather shifts slightly north into the Upper Midwest.

This is fantastic news for anyone heading to Duluth for Grandma's Marathon on Saturday morning. The broader Upper Midwest, including Minneapolis, is looking at Beautiful to Perfect conditions. Expect highs in the low 70s with abundant sunshine and light breezes. It is an ideal window for hiking, biking, or just sitting outside with a cold drink. Keep in mind, while the Upper Midwest enjoys the quiet weather, the Central Plains will be dealing with an enhanced risk for severe storms on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the West Coast is just showing off at this point. Cities like San Jose, Seattle, and Portland are locked into a phenomenal pattern. In fact, places like Redding, California, are riding an 11-day streak of nice weather. A stable air mass is keeping things dry and comfortable from California all the way up through the Pacific Northwest. If you are catching the Angels and Athletics game in Sacramento on Saturday night, expect a gorgeous evening at the ballpark.
