Cloud cover climbs, rain chances rise, and heat-stress and severe-gust footprints both expand as a dangerous late-summer heat wave shifts into the south-central U.S. CPC's own hazards outlook already has a Moderate risk of extreme heat flagged for the Southern Plains and Mississippi Valley by next Wednesday.
